The Entrepreneur: Tantalizing But Yet Terrifying!
In my opinion nothing sounds more sexy but yet scary at the same time! I’ve always viewed the entrepreneur like a super spy. Always willing to go out of their way to get what they want. Playing by their own rules with no one to report to. Working hard by day and playing hard by night. Most women and men want to be one, and their charm is magnetizing.
The scary part is that since that since they do not report to anyone, they are responsible for their own endeavors. They have to get their own business off of the ground and be in the right places at the right time. They also have to know the right people and have an awesome network.
However, you can choose a more comfortably uncomfortable situation like working in the corporate world. You have a specific job and job title. You are always told; what to do, where to be, and when to be there by. You start and stop at a specific time, and have breaks that are specified. You have someone you report to and who tracks your progress. You may or may not have the ability to grow within your company. You may or may not have benefits. California as we should all know is an at-will state. This means that an employer has the means to fire you on the spot with or without cause. When I first graduated college I had the idea that the best job for me was going to show up at my doorstep. I was educated and ready to make loads of money. I realized very quickly that I needed to get a job A.S.A.P! I worked for several different corporate businesses and I eventually was laid off due to ‘lack of work’ from every one of them (this is when the recession just started). Now, let me just say that not everyone has a negative experience working in the corporate world. I realized that after being laid off several times and battling with depression that I wasn’t suited to be a corporate girl.
I have had several mentors in my life who have opened my eyes to a world of possibilities. Most of my mentors were men & women who own their own businesses or are CEO/President’s of companies here in San Diego. These people are very well off financially and it was always fun to hang out with people who do well because it’s a different level of fun! I have always seen myself living a lavish lifestyle and I know that isn’t realistic being an Administrator, Assistant or Customer service rep.
I have always believed in passive revenue and entrepreneurship. I have to be honest and say that I do believe in network marketing and that if you do it right it will work for you. Some people have negative views, thinking its a scam. But, if it gives you time freedom and allows you to make money then it’s alright with me. When I look back on being an assistant in a corporate office; I would realize how small I was in relation to the big money makers within the business. If your an assistant i’m not saying it’s bad; i’m just saying it wasn’t for me. Imagine while you work to help someone else, who then works for someone else, who is also doing the same. All of these people are making the head honcho rich! His family is out getting spa treatments and shopping till they drop while you are sweating deadlines and due dates. So, before you call network marketing a scheme you should look at the corporate hierarchy!
If you are looking to get into a business for yourself but not by yourself I recommend taking a look at network marketing. Also, consider becoming an entrepreneur. It might not be easy, but if you see yourself somewhere else in life and you realize its not realistic from where you are then be open to change. I was raised reading the DuPont Registry so my dreams are big time dreams and I can’t get a Bently GTC working for a meager salary!
