Coffee for a Cause – enjoy a damn good cup of Joe while supporting our troops on Nov. 4, 2012 at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters!!!  San Diego Joe is sponsoring an event on behalf of the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation (WEODWF).  For over the past 10 years, our brave soldiers placed their lives in harm’s way for us.  I know what I just said may sound cliché, but the it does not make it any less true.  I don’t know what it says about our government when we, as private citizens, have to go searching for funds to support the very troops our government sent into harm’s way, but I do know the support of such foundations as WEODWF by the public speaks volumes on our gratitude for their service.

WEODWF, a non-profit organization, serves to support the wounded EOD warriors, the soldiers with the most harrowing responsibilities, and their families.  EOD, standing for Explosive Ordnance Disposal, is a joint service military occupational skill, meaning EOD Technicians serve within the Army, Navy, Marine, and Air Force.  EOD techs are responsible for disarming, rendering safe and disposing of a variety or unexploded military ordnance and terrorist devices, normally called Improvised Explosive Devices or IEDs. IEDs on today’s battlefields are responsible for the majority of fatalities and severe injuries to our troops.

WEODWF believes that families are an integral part of the healing process and strives to keep them together during the most difficult times.  WEODWF appreciates the generosity of others that allows them to offer “compassionate solutions” to our wounded EOD soldiers.

San Diego Joe is a local San Diego blogger dedicated to discovering the best places to enjoy a great cup of coffee in San Diego, with an emphasis on enjoyment.  San Diego Joe’s definition of enjoying a cup of coffee goes beyond the taste and aroma of coffee – her definition entices the incorporation of all the senses as she believes that there’s “a certain je ne sais quoi about the atmosphere and culture of the coffee house or cafe that makes it feel like home. A place of belonging, relaxation where the senses are stimulated and creativity is unleashed with wild abandon.”
