5 reasons sugar is addictive
Check your pantries re-evaluate your fridge and rethink the Easter basket! Are there refined carbohydrates at every meal? Breads, condiments, processed foods and a sugar drink to wash it down?
That needs to change and here’s 5 Reasons Sugar Is Addictive:
1-Sugar stimulates the brain’s pleasure or reward centers through the neurotransmitter dopamine exactly like other addictive drugs.
2-Brain imaging shows that high-sugar foods work just like heroin, opium our morphine in the brain.
3- Foods high in sweets stimulate the release of the body’s own opioids (chemicals like morphine) in the brain.
4-People develop a tolerance to sugar- they need more and more of the substance to satisfy them. This is also true of drugs such as alcohol and heroin.
5-People experience “withdrawal” when they are suddenly cut off from sugar, just like detoxifying from drugs.

You are soooo right! Sugar is a hard one to get rid of in our household ( I have a horrible sweet tooth). This is a good reminder as to why it does need to be monitored!
